ReplyDeleteOne technique that is used as a final step to clean wastewater is reverse osmosis (RO). In RO processes, water is forced under pressure to pass through a polymeric membrane, while all other components, including bacteria, polymers and salts, are held back (or rejected) by the membrane.
These nanocomposite membranes contain a crosslinked matrix of polymers and super-hydrophilic nanoparticles. The addition of nanoparticles enables the RO membrane to become more hydrophilic, more negatively charged and smoother.
